Pre-launch privacy notice

Version 2026-08-20. This notice covers only the waiting list. It replaces nothing: when MaltaQuotes opens, the full privacy policy applies to everything you do on the site.

Who processes your data

The controller is Raffaele Di Cecca. For anything about your data you can write to info@maltaquotes.com.

What we collect, and why

  • Your email address. This is what the list is for: it is where the confirmation link arrives, and it is how we tell you that the site has opened.
  • The language you were browsing in. So that the emails you receive are written in the language you chose, including the launch invitation months from now. We record it when you subscribe, because at the moment an email is sent there is nothing left to work it out from.
  • The interest you selected (looking for a service, offering services, or both). Used for one thing only: to know, before we open, whether demand and supply are arriving in balance. It changes no entitlement of yours: the two-credit bonus is the same whichever box you tick.
  • Source and campaign, if the link you arrived from carried them. They tell us which channel worked; they say nothing about you.
  • A fingerprint of your IP address, never the address itself. The anti-abuse rules only need to know whether the same origin has been seen before, and how often in the last hour. A fingerprint answers that, and it cannot be turned back into an address. It is erased after 30 days.
  • Your consents: which ones you gave, the version of this notice you were shown, and when. They record that you agreed to a specific text, and not to whatever this page says today.

We do not ask for your name or your phone number, and we collect nothing else. We do not profile you, we do not track you across sites, and we do not buy or enrich your data from anywhere else.

The legal basis

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for keeping you on the list, sending you the confirmation and the launch invitation, and recognising you for the welcome bonus. You gave it by ticking the box, and you can withdraw it at any time with one click on the link at the bottom of every email.
  • Separate consent, also under Art. 6(1)(a), for occasional news about MaltaQuotes beyond the launch. It is a separate box because it is a separate choice: you can be on the list without giving it.
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) for the abuse controls: the rate limits and the IP fingerprint. The interest is being able to keep a public form open without it becoming a way to sign other people up or to flood someone's inbox.

Double confirmation

Anyone can type someone else's address into a public form. Until the owner of the mailbox clicks the link we send, the entry stays unconfirmed, receives nothing further, and is deleted after 90 days. Only the person who holds the mailbox can put that address on the list.

The confirmation link is a random one-time value. We do not store it: we keep only a fingerprint of it, so that not even someone holding a copy of our database could confirm other people's subscriptions. It expires after 7 days and stops working the moment it is used.

How long we keep it

  • Unconfirmed entries: 90 days, then deleted automatically.
  • The IP fingerprint: 30 days on every entry, then erased.
  • Confirmed entries: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and in any case no longer than the waiting list itself. Once MaltaQuotes has opened and the invitations have gone out, the list has served its purpose and is deleted.
  • Unsubscribed entries: we keep the address, marked as unsubscribed, so we do not write to you again by mistake. That record contains nothing beyond what this requires.

Who else sees it

The email provider that delivers our messages, acting as a processor on our instructions. Nobody else. We do not sell, rent or share the list. There is no advertising or analytics service on this page, which is also why the site sets no cookies at all until you interact with it.

Cookies on this page

Only strictly necessary ones, and only once you do something: a short-lived cookie that shows you the "check your inbox" message once instead of on every reload, the language cookie if you use the language switcher, and WordPress's own security token on the form. No analytics, no advertising, no third-party scripts. None of these require your consent, which is why we do not ask for it.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and you can object to processing. You can withdraw either consent at any time and without giving a reason. Withdrawal does not affect what was lawful before it. The fastest routes:

  • Unsubscribe: the link at the bottom of every email we send you.
  • Deletion: write to info@maltaquotes.com and we delete the entry.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information and Data Protection Commissioner in Malta, or with the supervisory authority of the country where you live.

What happens at launch

When MaltaQuotes opens you will receive one personal invitation. If you create an account with the same address you confirmed here, two promotional credits are added to it, once only. See the Waiting list bonus terms. Creating an account is a new and separate step, with its own terms and its own privacy policy: being on this list commits you to nothing.
